S.O.S. Oil along with TORQ Lubricants sponsored Zach allowing him to compete in the 1st round of the South African Karting Nationals held on 29th & 30th April at Killarney Raceway, Cape Town.
Things got of to a great start for Saturday’s warm up when Zach topped the timing charts. In qualifying he ended up third but because of a technical infringement was sent to the back of the field for heat one and so started in p16.
Zach fought his way through the field to eventually finish heat one in 6th position setting the fifth best lap time for a heat 2 starting position of 5th.
Heat 2 started well and Zach was running with the top runners when disaster struck while overtaking the 4th placed driver, he was forced off the track into a spin sending Zach down the running order to eventually finish in 9th position.
Heat 3 and Zach started 6th and a really good duel the whole race long over 5th position with the two young drivers swapping positions almost every lap only to eventually finish in 6th position.
Zach finished 6th overall for the day and gained valuable experience throughout the national weekend. We are so incredibly proud of him and all he has accomplished.
